my name is Sammie and i am 19. When my parner was a baby he suffered from servere atopic eczema and was wrapped in bandages and gause from 9 mths until he was 3. We have a 7mth old baby boy who also has atopic eczema. He hasn't yet had it as bad as his daddy but he will and i know it. We have so far learnt that wheat, dairy and starchy foods trigger it off and also heat. We live in townsvile, QLD so if we take him out of the air-con he gets a rash. I recently stopped breastfeeding him because he now has teeth and bites. The biggest trouble was trying to find the right formula. We tried s26 lactose free, then the alergy one which both have milk and/or wheat products in them(which is how we discovered the reactions). We have finally settled him on the whyeth brand infasoy which is perfect. I cant give him all the things i was looking forward to give him like youghart and rusk sticks or milk arrowroot biscuits. He cant eat mashed potatos, pasta or most rices. In other words most jared baby foods are out of the question so all his foods are made up fresh at home. I am not writing this as a complaint. It is quite the opposite actually because i know the quality of the foods i give him are the best. if there are any other mothers out there that have a baby with atopic eczema and would like to share advice or stories or even if you would like to have a chat please put in a post. i look forward to hearing from you all!
